AGCO Senior Engineering Project (NDA Protected)
Most current boom sprayers restrict farmers to spraying a single pesticide cocktail over a large area.This method wastes water, chemicals and time while potentially exposing the operator to dangerous active ingredients during refilling. Furthermore, due to increased pesticide resistances, a single pesticide cocktail is no longer effective against all pests and may in fact be detrimental to crops. Existing direct injection systems have serious latency issues that have prevented widespread adoption. Our team addressed these issues by creating a proof-of-concept for a multi-point direct chemical injection
system. The project called upon my skills with fluids and mechanical design. I was the point person and product owner for this project: the experience has taught me how to establish an effective rapport with a remote company representative, how to keep a team on track but flexible enough to change
course when needed, and how to balance my managerial tasks with my technical tasks throughout the year. The project required good knowledge in fluids and large system designs.
