Ethical Garment Manufacturing in Sri Lanka
Starting in spring 2014, I collaborated with Professor Caitrin Lynch to write a paper about ethical garment manufacturing in Sri Lanka. The paper was presented at the University of Sussex Accounting for 'Health' and 'Safety' in the Global Garment Industry Workshop in June 2014. The paper examined the business and ethical decisions of a small college-wear garment company. Manufacturing for this company was first based in Sri Lanka and then North Carolina.
The paper is currently in the editing process to be published by UPenn Press! This paper allowed me to critically examine the garment industry and to explore my passions for manufacturing engineering, social justice, business, and fashion.
